Freeskate consists of jumps, spins and footwork and other movements skated to music. Because of the wide range of abilities of skaters, contract ice time is sometimes divided into "high" and "low" freestyle. High freestyles are limited to skaters at the Pre-Juvenile level and above. Low freestyles are limited to skaters at the Pre-Juvenile level and below. Moves in the Field is a series of patterns determined by the standards at a given test level that focus on power, quickness, extension and edge quality. Currently, these sessions are not divided into "high" or "low". Exhibition ice provides an opportunity for skaters to simulate a competition or test experience in order to improve their performance skills. At an exhibition session, skaters will be announced, have their music played and have the opportunity to skate their program with no other skaters on the ice. Other Special Sessions Occasionally, ECFSC offers Spins sessions, Annies Edges sessions and Power Skate sessions. How does the Club obtain ice times? The Club President and the Pro Rep negotiate with the Hobbs Rink Management to secure ice time blocks for use the ECFSC. Once these blocks have been negotiated, the Ice Usage Committee meets and divides those blocks into types of sessions (freeskating, moves, exhibitions, etc) These sessions are formatted into contracts that are distributed to the membership. Members then select times and sessions that work best for the skater. How does a skater contract for ice time? Once all times to skate have been selected and the fees added up, the skater's contract is mailed to the Contract Scheduler along with the fees required. Ice sessions are considered full when 22 skaters are on the ice. If a session is full, additional skaters requesting that session will be placed on a waiting list. Skaters on the waiting list will replace skaters who cancel that session or skaters who fail to take the ice within ten minutes of the start of that particular session. What is Random Ice? Random ice is non-contracted ice. It is ice time purchased at the current session rate as determined by the ECFSC fee structure, plus a $1.00 add-on fee. Random ice may be purchased by club members wishing to add sessions that were not contracted, as well as, visiting skaters and prospective member skaters. For visiting and prospective member skaters, this fee must be paid prior to the skater taking the ice. Contracted ECFSC members will be billed for random ice sessions.

A visiting skater, from an out-of-town club affiliated with US Figure Skating, may skate two (2) days per contract period if there is space. Random ice fees will be charged for the visiting skater and will be paid prior to taking the ice. A prospective member may be admitted to two (2) days (freestyle, moves) per contract period if there is space. Random ice fees will be charged for the prospective member and will be paid prior to taking the ice. |
